Your Health is in Your Hands!
A Chinese proverb says: "You cannot
prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head but you can prevent them
from building nests in your hair."
Along the same lines, we can stay healthy no matter
what flu bug or virus is going around, nor do we need to succumb to those
unpleasant diseases so prevalent in our society.
Good health basically depends on monitoring two
main factors: toxicity and deficiency
Detoxify
Physically - Emotionally - Mentally -
Spiritually
To detoxify the body we need to
- flush out physical waste and cellular debris,
- clean out our bodily sewage system as well as
- deal with emotional toxins of anger, fear,
worry, jealousy etc.
Nourish
Physically - Emotionally - Mentally -
Spiritually
Simultaneously to nourish the body we need to
- flood the body with power
nutrition
full of
life-giving vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants
- minimize empty calories of white flour, white
sugar, processed fast food.
Ages ago, Hippocrates already knew
"Let your food be your
medicine..."
Good health is supported by regular exercise as
well as feeding our soul, nurturing our spiritual connection with the Divine,
including gratitude, appreciation, forgiveness in our habitual thoughts.
Not to forget relaxation and the best medicine,
laughter. Norman Cousins describes in "Anatomy of an Illness" how it helped him
heal from ‘incurable’ disease.
No matter what state your health is in, it’s up to
YOU to improve it. It may not be easy to shift habits of a lifetime but it may
be the most rewarding decision ever.
Mahatma Ghandi said: "The
future depends on what we do in the present."
- We can focus on where we want to go instead of
where we are coming from.
- We can start caring about ourselves enough to do
whatever it takes to make us feel really good.
- We can start today to educate ourselves, empower
ourselves, take responsibility for our own health physically, emotionally,
mentally, spiritually.
- We can ask ourselves daily: "what would it take
to create a happier, healthier ME?"
The future is hopeful if we
start acting now.
